Résumé (en anglais) :
While slavery and the slave trade are paradoxically absent from Afrocentrist literature, a book on that subject published by the Nation of Islam in the early 1990’s was a hit among the Black American community.
Entitled The Secret Relationship between Blacks and Jews, the book sparked off various debates in the world of rap, in universities, and finally in the national press. Based exclusively on Jewish authors, it pretends to disclose the overwhelming responsibility of Jews in the slave trade as well as in each of the stages that led to the social marginalization of Black Americans. Resorting to various anti-Semitic practices and emphasizing the historic opposition between Jews and Blacks, the whole book says a lot about the current social context of the United States—a context that tends to amplify the temptations to give up on integrationist programs, and witnesses the emergence of a competition between communities for the status of victims.
